Spam Journalism #73
Spam Journalism: The spurious use of sensational headlines to add spice to an otherwise pointless article.
Once more the Tabloid on Sunday manages to make the gutter look positively clean. The notorious Ms. Carolyne Meng-Yee manages to come up with another scurrilous bit of rubbish on Rodney Hide, adding smear and slime to their campaign against him.
‘Disgusting way to end’, says Rodney Hide’s wife
“The wife of Act leader Rodney Hide has made an extraordinary outburst over her break from the high-profile politician – just days after receiving divorce papers.
“Hide’s wife of 23 years Jiuan Jiuan said the papers arrived “out of the blue” and it was a “disgusting way to end a marriage”.”
Correct me if I am wrong here, but I was under the impression that Rodney hide had separated from his wife 3 years ago. He has been openly going out with another woman for 18 months.
“The outburst comes three years after the couple separated and 18 months after Hide, 53, began seeing squash champion Louise Crome, 32.”
Ah, yes. I was right. So this is very, very , very old news and clearly of no interest to the public except in the most prurient way. There is no sudden surprise divorce, no clandestine affair, no torrid love triangles. Just a rather sad broken marriage.
Oh, and the ex-wife is angry about the divorce. Big surprise there.
This is gutter journalism at it’s worse. There is no legitimate news story here; nothing of interest to any except the voyeuristic – fascinated by the foibles of the famous. Perfect News of the World stuff. It would be nice if Ms. Meng-Yee could be expected to hang her head in shame at this offensive trash but I strongly suspect she does not know the word.
Allow me to assist:

Do you ever wonder if your spam journalism posts are also a form of spam?

Not really. I deliberately do not use provocative headings to get you to read them. Some of my other posts might be considered spam.
