What I Learned
In what has to be the most bizarre over-reaction I have heard in a long time, the Herald reports that a 12-year-old girl was arrested for scrawling on her desk. That is: properly arrested in handcuffs and dragged off to the police station and given eight hours of community service as her sentence.
Wow.
I realise this young lady may, in fact, be a small demon in little girl disguise rather than an innocent angel. But that is a wildly disproportionate response even for the most unruly, dreadful child in the universe. And this was not a strange attempt to “scare” her, this was a proper arrest with a proper sentence.
“(Alexa) Gonzalez has been assigned eight hours of community service, a book report and an essay on what she’s learned from the experience. (emphasis mine)”
I would imagine her essay would run a little like this:
What I learned from my arrest.
I learned that those in authority over me can be vindictive, mean-spirited, petty tyrants. I learned that they don’t want my respect, only my fear.
I learned that those in charge of those in authority over me have no control over them, but only excuses for their inadequacies
I learned that the public don’t have servants, only masters.
I learned that the police are not your friends but your keepers. They do not serve justice but only the law.
I learned that discretion is not part of the police’s lexicon. While an individual policeman may turn a blind eye once in a while, as soon as someone invokes the law they lose all ability to use common sense.
I learned that judges are no wiser than their law enforcement bretheren.
I learned that might determines right and that force justifies even the most stupid of decisions and the pettiest of motives.
I learned that the only thing that counts is who has the gun.
There is still one thing I don’t understand, though.
Why are adults so shocked when we rampage through schools with weapons?

Can hardly believe the appalling reaction of the arresting officer or was it the Gestapo?

Here’s a good one for the system failing youth.
My sister inlaw stole for 4years for drugs from her employer. She met my brother and got pregnant within 5 weeks. He married her and after 5weeks of marriage he she got caught stealing, he also caught her trying to hide a ounze of pot. He left her, she continued to do drugs for 3 quarters of her pregnancy until my brother contacted authorities, she was put in rehab for a month before birth.
He has been in custody battles for a year, he was interviewed by the police about her $135k theft, the police were to contact him as her sentencing would affect the day to day care of the child.
In family trial this woman made absolute ludicrous claims against my family and stated my brother was the druggie. Hes been randomly tested for a year at her demand and of course all negative. She was ordered to do 3week drug test by a judge, she failed to do so for 7 months. At her court sentencing the child lawyer or anyone was informed by her, her sentence was reduced to home d as it was portrayed she was a single mum breastfeeding. The police couldn’t be bothered to contact my brother or child lawyer even though it was in case files to let the father know.
The word of a theft and drug addict over ruled both court systems and was believed. My brother is still fighting in court for custody. After a year he still can’t even get a stay over as the mother says no.
My nephew is now on lock down 24hrs a day for the next 8months because of his mothers actions even though the father is able and willing to look after his son. Why should a child have to look at four walls??
This woman has starved her child and played physcological games since day one. MY brother doesn’t even have a speeding ticket to his name, yet has been treated vile by the police and court system. It has been a year and he is only getting a pre trial due to more games and delays through the mother.
She stole and abused the unborn child, the family courts say after 6months he should have stay overs.
The first child lawyer who quit after 7months when other health workers were sacked for interferring in the case. A child lawyer is there to do whats best for it. My brother didn’t even get a phone call let alone a interview with her, as the whole case was rigged. We’re now onto child lawyer no 2, and fighting to see the boy.
A innocent family and child have been abused, the police and system believed everyword of the criminal, all claims have been proven lies. Yet we are no further to justice or saving my brothers son from becoming another statistic of society. He is surrounded by dealers and unsavoury people thanks to the police not following through with there jobs.
