MacDoc - Immigration has little to do with Jones' involvement in the Bill Liu affair. It was as Internal Affairs Minister that Jones granted citizenship to Liu, and the advice he ignored was from officials in the DIA.

David Cunliffe however is a completely different matter. He was advised by Immigration NZ officials that there were grounds to revoke Liu's residency - specifically, there were serious concerns over him holding multiple passports and identities. Cunliffe, unsurprisingly, knew better! He ignored that advice, and allowed Liu to remain as a resident, AFTER which he was granted citizenship by Jones. Cunliffe's culpability is, IMHO, at least as bad as Jones'. That is where the spotlight should be shone.

Quite right, I2. I had forgotten the details of the case, it has had so little impact in the media.
