An immigration Question
Why is it that Immigation New Zealand appear to be dead keen on digging around the relatively trivial case involving National MP, Kanwaljit Bakshi, and yet steadfastly ignores the tremendous ramifications of the Bill Liu case involving Shane Jones?
I have no objection to Bakshi being pursued if Immigration have some evidence, but, it seems to me, that there is evidence galore, of serious misconduct, in the Liu affair , that is at least as serious as Philip Field’s scandal.

MacDoc – Immigration has little to do with Jones’ involvement in the Bill Liu affair. It was as Internal Affairs Minister that Jones granted citizenship to Liu, and the advice he ignored was from officials in the DIA.
David Cunliffe however is a completely different matter. He was advised by Immigration NZ officials that there were grounds to revoke Liu’s residency – specifically, there were serious concerns over him holding multiple passports and identities. Cunliffe, unsurprisingly, knew better! He ignored that advice, and allowed Liu to remain as a resident, AFTER which he was granted citizenship by Jones. Cunliffe’s culpability is, IMHO, at least as bad as Jones’. That is where the spotlight should be shone.

Quite right, I2. I had forgotten the details of the case, it has had so little impact in the media.
