Vertical Limit
So now it is official. Short people earn less than tall people. This sort of discrimination has been going on for centuries. Attempts to start ESP (Equality for Short People) have been ruthlessly put down by “Tallers” and laughed at by the Association of Dwarves And Midgets (ADAM).
“You think you have it tough?” scoffed ADAM president, Willow Othgood, “Most of us can only get jobs as extras in the movies. When did you last see a dwarf in a leading role? A least you guys have Tom Cruise and Dustin Hoffman.”
Short person equality advocate, Paul Holmes, points out that this research shows nothing new. CEOs of companies are nearly all above average height and short people are routinely passed over for promotion in favour of the taller.
“It’s the low ceiling. An equally skilled short person has a disadvantage over the similarly skilled tall person, because the tall managers discriminate against “shorties”. Research indicates that tall people feel superior to short people because they are always looking down on them. It is hard for them to take short managers seriously.”
Some people claim that height-based pay inequality is a myth. The argument goes that short people tend to take lower paying jobs because they are looking for a different slower-paced lifestyle, where they have time to find the step ladder, to get things from the top shelf in supermarkets and not feel rushed.
Be that as it may, the government has now come under pressure to fund a Commission to investigate inequality in pay scales based on height discrimination.
“This will not happen while there is a recession,” announced the Minister of Social Services, Tony Ryall, today. “The country simply cannot afford to equalise the short-fall in shortie-pay at this time.”

Short person equality advocates? Height discrimination? Let’s drop that PC nonsense and call them what they are….short-arses. They deserve to earn less, they don’t take up as much space and don’t need to eat as much as those who command a postural advantage.
Bigot. We short-arses know where you live…

Reminds me of the psychic dwarf wanted by the police for a possible theft. The newspapers carried the headline:
Short Medium at Large.
Sigh. Dwarf jokes. When you hear tiny jackbooted feet kicking in your door at three in the morning, don’t come crying to me…

Well I might be guilty of shortism but let’s face facts…they’ll never grow any bigger.
