Heavy Fuel
So does the McDonalds fuel-meal offer promote obesity? MacDonalds are offering a 10c a litre discount vouchers with a food packs comprising a Big Mac, mid-sized serve of chips and fizzy drink, and an apple pie. Predictably the food-police moved in:
“But an anti-obesity campaigner has condemned the deal offering a 10c-a-litre reduction for a fill of petrol or diesel at most Mobil stations as a marketing ploy to boost demand for McDonald’s fatty, salty, sugary foods.”
Well, Duh.
How is this any different from happy meal toys, TV advertising campaigns, $1.00 Cheeseburgers etc? Oh, right. It isn’t any different. And is it any different from Countdown offering 10c a litre vouchers for shopping there? Sure you can buy food that’s good for you there, but do you really think that obese people buy that sort of stuff?
Newsflash! MacDonalds wants you to eat more of their burgers! Shock! Horror!
Will this encourage thin people to eat big Macs and explode?
Will children eat thousands more happy meals so that they can get petrol cheaper?
Is Ronald MacDonald really the Anti-Christ?
Only time will tell.
